Culturally Arranged Marriage Visitor Visa
You can apply for this visa if you intend to travel to New Zealand for a culturally arranged marriage with a New Zealand citizen/resident or if you had a culturally arranged marriage with a New Zealand citizen/resident overseas i.e., outside New Zealand.
To be eligible for a Culturally Arranged Marriage Visitor Visa, you must be able to demonstrate that the marriage follows an identified and recognised cultural tradition where the arrangements for the marriage, including facilitation of the initial selection of the persons to be married, are made by persons who are not parties to the marriage.
If you are coming to get married in Zealand, your wedding must be within 3 months of arriving. You must also be able to demonstrate that there is a genuine intent to marry and that it is intended the marriage be maintained on a long term and exclusive basis. If you get married outside New Zealand, then you must apply for your visa within 3 months of your cultural wedding.
Once you live with your partner in a relationship that is genuine and stable you can apply for a partnership-based Work or Visitor visa.

If your partner is a New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident and you want to come to New Zealand to live together, you will need to apply for a partnership-based visa and subsequently apply for a resident visa. In order to qualify, you must have been living with your partner for 12 months or more in a relationship that is genuine and stable.
If you’re the partner of a New Zealand citizen or resident, you can apply to live in New Zealand permanently. If you’re granted residence, you can live, work and study in New Zealand indefinitely. You can include dependent children, aged 24 and under, in your visa application. If your partner is a New Zealand citizen and the two of you have been living together outside of New Zealand for 5 years or more, you may be granted a permanent resident visa. Your partner will need to be either overseas when you apply or have been back in New Zealand for less than 3 months.
