Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the Parent Boost Visitor Visa, you must:

• Be outside New Zealand when applying and when the visa is granted
• Be sponsored by an adult child who is a New Zealand citizen or resident
• Meet character and health standards
• Show you’re a genuine visitor (with ties to your home country)
• Have no dependent children
• Meet financial or sponsorship income criteria

Financial Eligibility

You must demonstrate financial self-sufficiency in one of the following ways:

1. Sponsor’s Income:

• A single sponsor must earn at least the median wage
• Joint sponsors must earn at least 1.5x median wage ($104,707.20/year)
• For additional parents, add 0.5x median wage per parent

2. Parent’s Own Income:

• Single parent: NZD $32,611.28/year
• Couple: NZD $49,552.88/year

3. Parent’s Available Funds:

• Single parent: NZD $160,000
• Couple: NZD $250,000

Note: Borrowed or gifted money cannot be used.

Health Requirements

• Must meet NZ’s acceptable standard of health
• Medical certificates must be less than 12 months old for first visa
• A new certificate (within 3 months) is required at the 3-year mark and for a second visa

Health insurance is mandatory for the entire visa duration.

• Must buy 12 months of coverage upfront
