Increase in minimum wage and how it will impact you

Increase in minimum wage and how it will impact you

The New Zealand Government has confirmed that the adult minimum wage will increase from $18.90 to $20.00 per hour on 1st April 2021. This means that the Employers will have to ensure that the payroll systems and processes are updated, and the employees will have to consider the minimum wage when they negotiate with employers.

Will this have any impact on median wage as calculated by Immigration?

Increase in the minimum wage may impact the assessment of median wage by Immigration New Zealand (INZ). Median wage is reviewed in November each year. Those who wish to apply for an Essential Skills Work Visa will need to keep in mind that there is a possibility that the median wage increase may impact them.
